Shane Battier, following a massive surge in voting, captured the first Floor Burns Tournament Championship. Shane Battier is your winner! He captured 59% of the vote to beat Jason Maxiell in the Finals...
Maxiell, the runner-up, will just have to be content with his ability to eat babies.
Congratulations, Shane! (and many thanks to ClutchFans!)

Floor Burns - Round 3 - Battier still alive!
Yes, we have made it to week 3 of Hoops Addict's Floor Burns Tournament.
Shane Battier is still alive, and this week is matched up with Julian Wright. This should be a huge beat-down. In Shane's favor, of course. But he needs the votes - and this is far more interesting (and easier) than the Presidential Election, so go quickly place a vote for Shane Battier.
note - I'm going to go vote against Jason Maxiell while I am at it, for it appears Max might be the only real threat to Shane winning this whole tournament.
And anyone who says Battier is the most overrated player in the NBA can kiss my ass. The fact that Robert Horry was also on that list just proves how idiotic said list is. The added fact that Yao freakin' Ming was on the list should require the author to get publicly tar-and-feathered. Or at least mocked loudly. Very loudly. For Yao Ming is a badass, even when he's playing at only 60%. Ask Chris Kaman.

This is bulls--t!!!!
ESPN.com listed their award winners for NBA things...
Here's who the panel voted for in the Defensive Player of the Year category:
Kevin Garnett.
Hey, I'm cool with KG. I get it. His team won 65 games. It makes sense. I mean, it's not the correct answer...... Shane Battier is DPOY, but at least I understand the motivation.
What's that? Not a SINGLE person voted for Shane? WTF? And who the hell voted for Josh Smith??? Oh, Scoop Jackson... why am I not surprised? F'n moron. Scoop is a clown.
Kevin Garnett gets 19 votes and Shane gets 0? That's bullshit and you all know it.

Kevin Durant? Meet Shane Battier. Again.
Hey, Kevin Durant... I see you recovered nicely from that 2-17 effort.
37, 9 and 8. And the W. Nice.
Mr. Battier won't let that happen again. He's the DPOY, after all.
I don't foresee another 2-17, but I can definitely see a 5-20-something effort.
Go Rockets! With or without T-Mac.

Kevin Durant? Meet Shane Battier.
I do not believe you two have been properly introduced...
Mr. supposed Front-Runner for the Rookie of the Year?
Meet the 2008 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
What's that, K-Smooth? 2-17 FG shooting? Only 4 points?
Awwww, so sorry!
Hey, don't mess with Shane. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Mike Dunleavy, Jr.? Meet Shane Battier
T-Mac, Luis Landry and the other Rockets host the Indiana Pacers tonight.
And I'll spare you the dramatic conclusion to any game preview - the Rockets are winning their 16th in a row tonight. Why? Because the Pacers best player has to earn his points against one Shane Battier. Oh, yeah, it turns out they already know each other. Awesome.
Back to the point though. Dunleavy has apparently learned how to not suck as a basketball player this year. He recently had a career high 36 points. And then matched it in the next game. But tonight he gets to try to go for 36 against Mr. Battier. Whose sole purpose in life right now is to make sure the opposing team's best player has a bad night.
Battier usually succeeds in these missions.
Dunleavy's only real chance? Distract Battier with trivia questions about popular television shows from the 1970s.
Seriously though - does anyone really think Dunleavy, Jr. is going to top 30 tonight? Battier has shut down Carmelo Anthony, Rudy Gay, Antawn Jamison and D-Wade (among others) within the last couple weeks. Dunleavy is not on their level.
Who else is going to score tonight for Indy? Jeff Foster and Troy Murphy are ecstatic that Yao Ming isn't playing, but they still gotta get their shots up against Mt. Mutombo. And then they get to battle with Luis Landry. So far, no one has really enjoyed that task.
If T-Mac plays nice, Luis Landry has the typical 20+ points, 10 rebound performance, Battier holds Dunleavy Jr. under his average and Rafer doesn't decide to shoot 20 times - the Rockets should be in really good shape to maintain the winning streak in anticipation of Thursday's HUGE game against Dallas.
Go Rockets. Win #40 coming tonight.
